Introducing Together Active

New beginnings for the Active Partnership

As an Active Partnership, Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (SASSOT) has achieved a lot over the last 20 years. Investing millions of pounds into sport locally, delivering sport for social change, successfully lobbying policy-makers to make provision for physical activity – together we have driven change.

However, there is so much more to do. Over 260,000 of our residents over the age of 16 remain inactive. We are the 10th most inactive county in England. Health inequalities continue to grow.

Our people deserve better.

We are determined to improve. With that in mind, the SASSOT Board and Leadership Team have undertaken a review of our governance structures and took the decision to transition from a body hosted by Stafford Borough Council to become an independent charitable organisation, and as of the 1st September, SASSOT will be known as Together Active.

Our mission remains the same; getting everyone active more often. This move will enable us to be a more agile, visible and financially stable organisation, providing support and access to as many people as possible. The importance of our work is greater than ever before.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Stafford Borough Council for their incredible support as hosts over the last 20 years, and also the staff team and our wonderful Board for their hard work and vision on this journey. We are confident that the transition to Together Active will mean we are best placed to serve the community for many years to come.

Best wishes,
