Statement – COVID-19 Second Lockdown and Physical Activity

Monday 2nd November 2020

On Saturday 31st October, the Government announced a second national lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus. This will include restrictions to community sport and physical activity.  We know this will be a difficult time for the sector and we would like to reaffirm our commitment to all of our local partners over the coming weeks.

Together Active welcomes the decision to allow personal outdoor exercise with one other person through the duration of the lockdown. We encourage the residents of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to take advantage of this to best protect their physical and mental health.

However, following a difficult year, we know that there is a tough road ahead for community, public and private sport and leisure providers. We are urgently seeking clarification on the guidelines and what support will be available for these groups.

We understand the worry and concern many of our local community group and clubs will be experiencing. We ask that anyone who is anxious about the future of their club to contact us at hello@TogetherActive.org.

We are here for you, now and into the future.

Restrictions apply to all areas of England and come into force on Thursday 5 November. You can find out more on the Government’s website.

Stay safe,

Jude Taylor

CEO, Together Active
