Winter Walks: Burton-on-Trent

Sinai Park, Tatenhill Common and Battlestead Hill Walk

Sinai Park is a re-creation of the historic parkland setting around Sinai House, a former sanitorium for aged monks from Burton Abbey.  The woodland is planted in two parts – Shobnall Wood to the north and The Rough to the South. This route leads through to Battlestead Hill, reputed to be the site of a bloody battle between the Angles and Danes. This mature woodland is attractive in all seasons and especially so in spring, when primroses, bluebells and violets carpet the woodland floor.
