Blithfield Reservoir Blue and Yellow Circular Walk

Blithfield Reservoir, officially opened by the Queen Mother in 1953, is a 700-acre lake set in the beautiful countryside of the Blithe Valley. Created by damming the River Blithe, it provides 100 million litres of water every day to houses across parts of the Black Country, East and South Staffordshire and South Derbyshire. Blithfield Reservoir Blue and Yellow Circular Walk is a 4.7 kilometre loop trail that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching.

The Red Lion, Longdon and Cannock Chase Walk

Made up of a number of villages, the parish of Longdon borders Cannock Chase, and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Bishops of Lichfield held the manor of Longdon up to 1546AD, when it was surrendered to Henry VIII. In the same year, his Majesty granted ownership to Sir William Paget, an ancestor of the Marquis of Anglesey. The Red Lion, Longdon and Cannock Chase Walk is a 9.8 kilometre loop trail that offers the chance to see wildlife and is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching.

Brereton, Slitting Mill and Trent and Mersey Canal Walk

Slitting Mill Village once played a vital role in the local iron industry. It’s name comes from the rolling and slitting mills that dominated the area during the 17th and 18th centuries. Once known as Stonehouse, named for the large building that stands on the junction of Slitting Mill Road and Penkridge Bank Road, the village name was changed to Slitting Mill at the end of the 19th century. The Brereton, Slitting Mill and Trent and Mersey Canal walk is a 18.2 kilometre loop trail that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips.
