Get to know Kim

As Health Inequalities Officer for Community, my role involves spending time with communities to gain a better understanding of what barriers to physical activity they have, with a particular focus on health. With the insights I gain I hope to lead test and learn initiatives that help my community access physical activity.

What do Together Active’s values mean to you and your role?

Together Active’s Values are important to me, and they are how I would like to be treated and how I treat people I meet. I see creativity as wonderful tool to have, to be able to see places though ways that others may not. Within the role of Health Inequalities Officer, I will be making sure that I am collaborating with the community being compassionate towards their stories and making sure that I am inclusive as possible.

What does Together Active’s mission mean to you?

This mission is important to me because the effects of inactivity are seen everywhere, every day. Within this role I hope I can make some small and some big steps towards this goal, I know that if we achieve this mission the effects of it will be felt for generations and that’s incredible idea. I love the area I live in and I want the people who live around me to thrive.

What does inclusion and access in physical activity mean to you?

Inclusion and access in physical activity is not just about this being accessible for all who want to do physical, it is about shifting the way in which we view and see physical activity, so those who are disengaged or see physical activity as a negative or unnecessary thing, find their own paths to find enjoyment within the space of physical activity.
