Join our team as a
Safeguarding and Welfare Advisor

Location: Hybrid (between our office, at home and across Staffordshire)
Hours: Full-Time, 32 hours per week over 4 days
Salary: £35,000- Fixed Term – 12 Months (with the potential for extension subject to funding and organisational requirements)

Are you passionate about creating environments where people feel safe, supported and able to thrive?

We’re looking for an empathetic, values-driven and collaborative Safeguarding and Welfare Advisor to help strengthen safeguarding practice across our organisation and wider partnerships and create safe, inclusive environments where everyone can thrive.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who combines sound judgement with empathy, enjoys supporting colleagues and partners through complex situations, and is passionate about helping create cultures where people feel valued, supported and safe.

We’re Together Active, a charity working across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to make it easier for people to be active in ways that fit their lives.

We focus on the systems that shape who gets included and who doesn’t. That means looking beyond individual behaviours to understand how policy, funding, culture and place influence people’s choices, freedoms and access to movement.

Safeguarding is fundamental to that work. It isn’t just about policies or responding when something goes wrong. It’s about creating a culture where people’s welfare is everyone’s responsibility, where concerns are acted upon with care and confidence, and where trust underpins everything we do.

We’re looking for someone who shares those values. Someone who combines sound judgement with empathy, who is confident supporting colleagues and partners through complex situations, and who sees safeguarding not as a separate function, but as an essential part of creating positive experiences for everyone who engages with our work.

We’re looking for a Safeguarding and Welfare Advisor to join our growing team.

About the Role

This is a partnership-led and strategic role where your work will help ensure that the environments, opportunities and partnerships that support people to be active are safe, inclusive and person-centred.

You’ll lead safeguarding and welfare across Together Active, providing expert advice, guidance and support to colleagues, partners and organisations. You’ll help build confidence, strengthen safeguarding practice and embed a culture of prevention, learning and continuous improvement across our work.

What makes this role particularly exciting is the opportunity to influence systems as well as organisations. You’ll work collaboratively with partners across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, supporting organisations to develop safer cultures, sharing learning and helping create positive experiences for everyone who engages with physical activity. Alongside this, you’ll represent Together Active within the Sport Welfare Officer Network, helping strengthen safeguarding and welfare standards across sport, movement and physical activity settings.

We’d absolutely love to hear from you if you bring:

  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and professional judgement
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience supporting colleagues, organisations or partners to strengthen safeguarding practice
  • Confidence communicating complex safeguarding and welfare issues with empathy and clarity
  • A collaborative approach to working across organisations and sectors
  • Passion for creating safe, inclusive and person-centred environments
  • Curiosity, creativity and a commitment to continuous learning
  • Enthusiasm for building confidence, sharing knowledge and influencing positive change

Experience working across safeguarding, welfare, community organisations, health, education, sport, physical activity or the voluntary and community sector are all relevant and welcome.

No single background is necessarily “the right one”, so please don’t rule yourself out without a conversation.
