Lead Our Next Chapter as Chief Executive
Location: Hybrid (between our office, at home and across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent)
Hours: Full-Time, 32 hours over four days per week
Salary: £65,000 – £70,000

We’re Together Active, a charity working across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to make it easier for people to be active in ways that fit their lives.
We focus on the systems that shape who gets included and who doesn’t. That means looking beyond individual behaviours to understand how policy, funding, culture, and place influence people’s choices, freedoms, and access to movement.
We don’t deliver programmes or duplicate what’s already working. Instead, we connect people, influence decision-makers, and help good work take root especially in the communities where inequality is most deeply felt.
We’re seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to lead us at an important point of renewal. With our Board being refreshed and a new Sport England investment period expected to begin in April 2027, this is an opportunity to shape our next chapter.
You’ll provide strategic and organisational leadership, while playing a visible role across the local system. You’ll strengthen our position as a trusted convener, bringing people together and building alignment across local government, health, education, sport, leisure and the voluntary and community sector.

About the role
As Chief Executive, you’ll be accountable for the leadership and effective running of Together Active. Working with our Chair, Board and senior leadership team, you’ll provide stability and direction as we move through a period of change and into the next Sport England investment period.
You’ll help translate national priorities into meaningful place-based change, positioning movement, physical activity and sport as part of the solution to wider local priorities.
Building strong relationships will be central to the role. You’ll convene partners, influence across systems and work with Sport England, neighbouring Active Partnerships and the wider network to identify opportunities for collaboration.
You’ll also lead and develop our organisation and its people, supporting an open and collaborative culture and helping to build our long-term sustainability.
We’re looking for an experienced, inclusive and emotionally intelligent leader with a strong understanding of partnership and system leadership. You may come from sport and physical activity, health, education, local government, the voluntary and community sector or another closely connected place-based environment.
You’ll understand the distinctive role of an Active Partnership, bring the credibility and judgement to operate at senior strategic tables and be able to build shared purpose across organisations, sectors and communities.
Above all, we’re looking for someone who can lead through change, bring people with them and help shape what comes next for Together Active.
