As Children and Young People’s Development Officer, I work across schools and communities to connect partners through a place-based approach that puts young people at the centre. I collaborate with Virtual Schools, School Games, community groups, and NGBs to strengthen PE provision and create inclusive, engaging opportunities for children and young people. I’m also part of the safeguarding team and oversee the Active Lives Children and Young People Survey, with a core focus on ensuring young people’s voices shape our work.

What do Together Active’s values mean to you and your role?

Together Active’s values are central to how I approach my role. Inclusivity means ensuring every child and young person is seen, heard, and valued, with opportunities that are truly accessible, not just available. Collaboration is about building trust and shared ownership, empowering others rather than directing them, and valuing different perspectives. Creativity allows me to adapt and innovate, recognising that no one-size-fits-all approach works. Compassion underpins it all, leading with empathy so decisions remain people-centred. Children and Young People feeling safe and included is at the centre of my work and all four of Together Active’s values align perfectly with my own beliefs and guide my work.

What does Together Active’s mission mean to you?

Designing out inactivity is important to me because, as a sporty individual, I’ve experienced first-hand the positive impact that movement can have on wellbeing. I want everyone to have the opportunity to feel those same benefits, without restrictions or barriers standing in their way.

What does inclusion and access in physical activity mean to you?

Inclusion means creating environments where everyone feels they belong. With a focus on children and young people, it’s about ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate, feel valued, and experience a genuine sense of belonging. It means listening to their voices to help remove barriers and ensure they feel heard. I want physical activity to be a space for wellbeing, empowerment, connection, and community – not exclusion.
