Could you help local people have their voices heard and support more people to be active in ways that work for them?
We are recruiting four Community Activators to work alongside communities across East Staffordshire, primarily in Burton-upon-Trent and Uttoxeter, as part of our Sport England-funded Place-Based work.
You’ll spend time understanding local experiences, priorities and the things that can make being active more difficult. What you hear and learn will help shape ideas, opportunities and positive change.
Each role will be hosted by a different local organisation, giving you the chance to build strong connections within the communities they support and contribute to the next stage of this work.
If you’re a good listener, enjoy building relationships and want to help make sure local voices shape what happens next, this could be the role for you.
About the Role
As a Community Activator, you’ll work with local people and communities across Burton-upon-Trent and Uttoxeter to understand what matters to them and support more people to be active.
You’ll spend time in communities, listening to people’s experiences and ideas, exploring the barriers that can make being active more difficult and helping to support small changes and activities that can make a difference to people’s health and wellbeing.
You’ll also help gather and share community insight, build relationships with local organisations and partners, and support the wider Place Partnership to understand what is working, what is getting in the way and what could be done differently.
Each day will look different. You’ll shape your work around what you learn from local people and your host organisation, while working alongside the other Community Activators as a supportive group.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Are a good listener and respond thoughtfully to others
- Enjoy building relationships and working with different people and communities
- Can communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Are adaptable and comfortable working in different environments
- Show empathy and understanding of other people’s experiences
- Can work as part of a team and support others
- Are willing to speak up for community needs
- Enjoy solving problems and finding different ways forward
You don’t need a specific qualification or background to apply. We welcome experience from any part of your life, including employment, volunteering, parenting or caring responsibilities, community organising or personal experience.
If you’re someone who enjoys listening, building trust and helping communities shape what happens next, we’d love to hear from you.
How the role works
All four Community Activators will be employed by Together Active.
Each role will then be seconded to one of four host organisations for the duration of the contract, meaning you will work closely with that organisation and the communities they support while remaining a Together Active employee.
