Location: Hybrid (between our office, at home and across Staffordshire)
Hours: Part-time, 19.5 hours per week – 12 month contract
Salary: £28,000 pro rata (£17,062.50 actual salary)

We’re Together Active, a charity working across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to make it easier for people to be active in ways that fit their lives.
We focus on the systems that shape who gets included and who doesn’t. That means looking beyond individual behaviours to understand how policy, funding, culture and place influence people’s choices, freedoms and access to movement.
We don’t deliver programmes or duplicate what’s already working. Instead, we connect people, influence decision-makers, and help good work take root, especially in the communities where inequality is most deeply felt.
We’re looking for an Community Voice Officer to join our growing team.
About the Role
At Together Active, we’re trying to change how systems behave; how decisions get made, who shapes them, and what counts as evidence. This role is about embedding lived experience into the way we think, decide and act. It’s about ensuring community voice influences direction from the very beginning, rather than being something consulted at the end of a process.
You’ll spend time listening directly to communities, partners and the spaces where people feel overlooked or misunderstood. You’ll notice where assumptions don’t match reality, test ideas and bring insight back into the organisation and our partnerships, helping to ensure lived experience shapes meaningful change.
You’ll also work creatively alongside communities to co-produce new ways of working, challenge perceptions around who is considered “hard to reach”, and help ensure our work is connected, equitable and inclusive.
We’d absolutely love to hear from you if you bring:
- Experience building trusted relationships with communities and partners
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Professional curiosity and confidence to undertake sensitive conversations
- Experience working alongside people who have experienced exclusion or trauma
- Understanding of barriers to inclusion and accessibility
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
- A genuine belief that lived experience should shape decision-making, not simply inform it.
Experience in community engagement, co-production, participation, public health, youth work, community development or the voluntary sector are all relevant and welcome.
