Our vision
Design out inactivity in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
Our Areas of Work
Place-Based Working
Bringing partners, communities and organisations together to create joined-up approaches that support people to move more. We help build stronger local systems, connect learning and ensure community voices shape decisions in the places where we work.
Lived Experience
Empowering communities to lead change in how physical activity opportunities are created locally. By working with people with lived experience, supporting peer researchers and listening to community insight, we help shape programmes that reflect real needs and experiences.
Children and Young People
Helping children and young people across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent become more active, confident and healthy. We work with schools, NGBs, clubs and activity providers to break down barriers and create more opportunities for young people to move and play.
Safeguarding and Welfare
Supporting safe, inclusive environments where everyone can enjoy sport and physical activity. Our safeguarding team provides guidance, advice and resources to clubs and organisations, and as part of the Sport Welfare Network we help promote and maintain high standards of welfare and safeguarding across the sector.
Workforce Development
Strengthening the people and organisations that make sport and physical activity happen locally. We support clubs, volunteers and community organisations to build skills, share learning and create inclusive pathways so the local workforce reflects and serves the communities it supports.
Health Inequalities
Reducing health inequalities by making physical activity part of everyday health and community life. We work alongside communities to understand barriers and co-design solutions, while also working across health and local systems to create more inclusive pathways to movement across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
Active Environments
Creating places and spaces that make it easier for people to move more in everyday life. We work with communities, planners and partners to shape neighbourhoods, green spaces and local infrastructure so they are safe, accessible and designed to support active living across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
Our priority areas
We work with communities across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, including Stafford, Staffordshire Moorlands, Newcastle-under-Lyme, South Staffordshire, Cannock Chase, Lichfield and Tamworth, with a key focus on Stoke-on-Trent and East Staffordshire. Through a place-based approach, we work alongside local partners to reach underserved communities, listening to the barriers people face to being active and working together to design changes to the systems and services around them that help design out inactivity. What we stand for
Together Active is an independent charity and the Active Partnership for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. We work in collaboration with systems, communities and partner organisations to work towards our vision of designing out inactivity.
That means that physical activity is embedded within systems as a tool to improve outcomes for some of the most overlooked people in our society.
Being active should be the easy option for everyone.
What we aim to achieve
Being active should be the easy option for everyone. But we believe it’s not solely down to the individual to determine how active they are. We work to influence the systems that work around us to incorporate physical activity at all levels, so that physical activity is used as a tool to achieve positive outcomes across a range of circumstances. We will work with the most overlooked and unheard communities, particularly those experiencing mental distress, living with a long-term health condition, those who have low or no income, and those who have experienced exclusion as a result of gender identity and / or race.
