Together Active has launched the search for a new Chair to help lead the organisation through its next chapter.

The successful candidate will lead our Board of Trustees, support our leadership team and play an important role in shaping the future of Together Active across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

It’s an exciting time for the organisation, with plenty ahead as we look to build on our work and strengthen our impact across the area.

Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, we work with communities, partners and local systems to understand the barriers people face to being active and work together to shape strategic change, improve access to local opportunities and make sure the voices of those facing the biggest barriers are heard.

Lottie Smith, Interim CEO at Together Active, said:

“We’re at an important point in Together Active’s journey, with a real opportunity to be ambitious about what comes next. We believe physical activity has a huge role to play in improving people’s lives, but too many people still face barriers to accessing it. Our next Chair will help us keep pushing that work forward, bringing thoughtful challenge, strong leadership and the confidence to help us make bold decisions about our future. We’re looking for someone who believes in what we’re trying to achieve and who wants to work alongside our Board and leadership team to help make it happen.”

Our new Chair will help us build on this work, provide strong governance and strategic leadership, and support our leadership team as we move into this next chapter.

We’re looking for an experienced, supportive and emotionally intelligent leader who will take the time to understand our organisation and local context before helping us move forward with clarity and confidence.

They will bring strong governance judgement, empathy, curiosity and excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to build relationships across local government, health, sport and the voluntary and community sector.

Our new Chair will also play an important part in appointing our next permanent Chief Executive and helping us prepare for the next Sport England investment period.

Knowledge of physical activity, health, wellbeing or Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent would be beneficial, but isn’t essential.

If you’re interested in helping shape the next chapter of Together Active, we’d love to hear from you.

Applications close at 9am on Monday 12 October 2026.

If this sounds like the opportunity for you, we’d love to hear from you.
