Are you passionate about building relationships that help communities thrive?

We are looking for a collaborative, community-minded and values-driven Active Communities Connector to help strengthen partnerships and create more inclusive opportunities for people to be active across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing people together, building trust across organisations and helping communities shape solutions that work for them. If you are energised by collaboration, passionate about tackling inequality and committed to creating lasting change, then this role could be for you.

We’re Together Active, a charity working across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to make it easier for people to be active in ways that fit their lives.

We focus on the systems that shape who gets included and who doesn’t. That means looking beyond individual behaviours to understand how policy, funding, culture and place influence people’s choices, freedoms and access to movement.

We don’t deliver programmes or duplicate what’s already working. Instead, we connect people, influence decision-makers, and help good work take root especially in the communities where inequality is most deeply felt.

We’re looking for an Active Communities Connector to join our growing team.

About the Role

This is a partnership-led and community-focused role where your work will directly support Together Active’s mission to design out inactivity across our region.

You’ll work collaboratively with local organisations, voluntary groups, networks and stakeholders to help create sustainable and inclusive opportunities for people to move more in ways that work for them.

What makes this role particularly exciting is the opportunity to work through partnerships rather than direct delivery. You’ll help bring organisations together, strengthen local connections and co-design approaches that respond to the needs and experiences of priority communities.

Your work will include helping to identify gaps and opportunities across the local physical activity landscape, supporting collaborative projects, and championing equitable approaches that help reduce barriers to participation.

We’d absolutely love to hear from you if you bring:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working with communities, particularly underrepresented or priority groups
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative partnerships across different organisations and sectors
  • Passion for improving community health, wellbeing and inclusion
  • Understanding of barriers to participation and accessibility within physical activity
  • Creativity, curiosity and confidence solving problems collaboratively
  • Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of your work
  • Enthusiasm for helping communities shape solutions and influence change

Experience in partnership working, community engagement, co-design, place-based working or the voluntary and community sector are all relevant and welcome.

No single background is necessarily ‘the right one’, so please don’t rule yourself out without a conversation.
