Senior Leadership Team Announced

Thursday 29th June 2023

We are thrilled to announce the formation of Together Active’s new Senior Leadership Team, marking a significant milestone in our organisation’s journey of transformation.

With a steadfast commitment to serving the people of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, we are realigning our efforts to better support those who stand to benefit the most from our work. This includes individuals facing economic challenges, experiencing long-term health conditions and disabilities, and those who have been excluded from accessing essential services and programmes.

Our primary focus will be on fostering the growth of powerful communities, enhancing health and well-being, and championing social inclusion. With this new team at the helm, Together Active is poised to embark on an inspiring mission to empower individuals and make a positive impact on the lives of all those we serve.

Together Active’s new senior leadership team is united in their dedication to design out inactivity in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, fostering positive change and creating a brighter future for all.

Head of Development – Jackie Brennan

“I have had a lifelong passion for physical activity, movement and sport and how it can enhance the lives of individuals and communities.

“I have worked in the sport and physical sector all my life in various roles in the private sector, local and regional government, public health, Higher Education and working for a National Governing Body of sport, British Cycling. I also have a Master’s in Public Health from Liverpool University.

“As a species we are made to move, but for decades we have been consistently designing physical activity out of our lives both through the physical and built environment but we have also created social barriers leading to inequalities in participation.

“Our vision at Together Active is to design out inactivity in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

“Personally I played hockey for many years, but nowadays I will be out on my bike exploring locally and afar, running slowly or doing a few gentle yoga poses.”

Head of Policy and Strategy – Lottie Smith

“As a dedicated advocate for equality and equity, I am deeply passionate about driving societal progress and fostering inclusive policies rooted in lived experiences. Collaborative engagement lies at the heart of my approach, as I firmly believe that real change can only be achieved through collective efforts.

“I am committed to creating a more just world, and this extends beyond human rights; I also recognize the vital importance of environmental preservation and equitable access to green spaces for all.

“With over a decade of experience in the charity sector and serving as a trustee on the boards of the Field Studies Council and the Gingerbread Centre, I have actively championed progressive social change.

“Together Active’s mission to design out inactivity speaks to my core beliefs of inclusivity and collaboration.

“I keep active by walking and hiking, strength training and running round with my kids.”

Operations Manager – Hazell Thorogood

“I have a wide variety of experience from my varied career both in team and operations management, process improvement and refinement and project management.

“I’ve previously held team manager and operational manager roles in a variety of environments including in the private sector and in local and countywide authorities.

“I’m looking forward to applying a wide depth and breadth of knowledge in my new role, in particular in developing efficient, harmonious systems to ensure Together Active is as effective as it can be.

“In my spare time (when I’m not running around after my young daughter!) I enjoy yoga, family time, and travelling as much as I can!”
