DofE Adventure 2017

Monday 19th June 2017

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), known for helping youngsters push out of their comfort zones, has announced it will be running an Adventure in the beautiful Peak District National Park on Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October 2017.

The event, which includes a challenging hike and overnight campout, is open to over 18s, individuals and teams  and no previous experience is required.  Adventurers can choose to do a one-day 25km (on the Saturday) or two-day 50km hike in this stunning setting, following a sign-posted route or self-navigating. On the Saturday night all participants will enjoy an overnight stay at Base Camp where tents, campfires, hot showers and entertainment will be provided! The registration fee starts from £85, with a fundraising target of an achievable £150 for the one day Adventure or £110 with a £200 target for the two days. It includes training plans, a fundraising pack and exclusive t-shirt in advance of the event.

During the Adventure a tent and sleeping mat for the night, water and snacks at each checkpoint, a hot drink on Sunday morning, warm-up sessions on Saturday and Sunday morning, medical facilities at the start, Base Camp, finish line, and en route and individual trackers for self-navigating Adventurers, will all be included for free. There will also be plenty of food and drink available to purchase at Base Camp, and of course Adventurers will be more than welcome to self-cater.
