The Gen22 Programme aims to help young people in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, aged between 16 and 24, gain employability skills through a combination of volunteering with local sports and physical activity organisations and funded training opportunities.
Gen22 is for young people who might otherwise struggle to access Games related opportunities. This could include lacking confidence, being a young carer or young parent, or having a criminal record. They could have challenging financial circumstances, or be from a marginalised community.
They can’t be currently in employment, but can be in further education.
We are also determined to reach disadvantaged groups with this opportunity, particularly young people who are care experienced.
If your organisation would like to be involved, or if you would like to learn more about registering a young person for the programme, please get in touch.

The project focuses on 3 of the Games missions:
Young people taking part in the programme will be expected to complete 30 volunteering hours with their chosen organisation across a 6-month period, and will be able to access training opportunities in areas of work which interest them.
These may be in sports and physical activity development, physical activity and wellbeing, or creative design and digital.
They will also complete a skills log to support their CV writing, a reference from their volunteer organisation, and a certificate of completion.
Together Active will provide support before, during and after their placement to ensure they maximise the benefits of the opportunity.
