South Staffordshire Council’s leisure centres have plenty lined up for the summer with children’s activity camps running every day of the school holiday. The activities are for children aged 5-12 years old and provide a range of activities to engage children in fun, games and sports, with the aim being that the children enjoy themselves, make new friends and learn the importance of leading a fit and healthy lifestyle. The camps will run as half-day, full-day and extended-day sessions, and will be available at Cheslyn Hay, Codsall and Wombourne Leisure Centres. Penkridge Leisure Centre will be providing shorter 2-hour activities ranging from fun & games, arts & crafts, treasure hunts and sports coaching. For more information and to book call 01785 714152.
Parish Council’s in South Staffordshire make provisions for local children this summer
Local parish councils in South Staffordshire are providing school holiday subsidies and activities to try and increase access into activities for local children.
Wombourne Parish Council is giving residents of their parish £10 off Wombourne Leisure Centres activity camps, however proof of address is required on booking and each child is only entitled to the discount once. The subsidy is available for the first 50 bookings only. Book quickly on 0845 456 3233.
Brewood and Coven, and Perton Parish Councils are providing a number of activities within their parishes for residents, which are either FREE or a nominal fee of just £2.00. Activities consist of football, tri golf, tag rugby, athletics, multi sports, plus a range of dance and theatre sessions.
Trampolining & Gymnastics at Cheslyn Hay Leisure Centre
Cheslyn Hay offers regular trampoline coaching on Monday and Thursday evenings for children, however this Summer the leisure centre are running a short 3-day course Monday 31st July – Wednesday 2nd August from 10.00am-12.00pm. The course cost if £13.50 for the 3 days is a great way of introducing children to trampolining.
The centre is additionally offer a Gymnastics taster session on Monday 14th August 10.00am-12.00pm aimed at beginners and consisting of low level and floor based skills.

Open Day Success at Wombourne Leisure Centre
Wombourne Leisure Centre held an Open Day on Saturday 24th June where local people to access the facilities for FREE and take part in a number activities including gym inductions, studio cycling, TRX, aerobics, swimming, toning and badminton. Current members could also make use of the additional classes and get involved, so it was a great day all round.
The Open Day was a huge success with inductions fully booked, and classes reaching decent occupancies.
The day also invited new customers to join and pay nothing until August which went down extremely well with around 56 new joiners signing up to the leisure centres memberships.
South Staffordshire Councils leisure centres are planning to offer Open Days at the other 3 leisure centres in the future.
