Funding Updates

Wednesday 14th August 2019

August is here and so is the funding updates for the SASSOT Newsletter!

This month, we are promoting funding streams that focus on a variety of needs within communities, such as social action, disability support and community development. Physical activity can hold a valued impact on all three of these and we feel there are lots of ways that physical activity can alleviate social issues and aid development.

We also have our hints and tips section that looks at the value of match-funding this month.

We hope you find the following information useful and make sure to check out our funding pages on the SASSOT website for the latest funding updates!

Tip of the Month!

Match-funding – Don’t be afraid to explore other funding streams…

Most funding streams will have various outcomes that you will be required to meet if you are successful in a funding bid. However, some different funding streams may have similar targets. Adding value to every programme is an important part of project development and looking for match-funding is a great way of doing this. Some funding streams may even require an element of fundraising to be done beforehand so this is definitely a worthwhile investment!

Sometimes, we notice new potential outcomes mid-project that require some further investment. A great way to overcome this is by looking for a small pot of funding that can add value to the original project.

Bear in mind, not every funder will allow this and this would be clearly stated within the guidance. However, having the ability to evaluate outcomes early on will help you to understand the developing needs. This will help you to add more investment to your programme and, therefore, adding value and impact.

Remember: Don’t be afraid to look beyond the initial investment!
