We have some exciting news about SASSOT’s future …

Monday 16th September 2019

SASSOT’s Board recently met to discuss SASSOT’s long term future and its legal status as a body hosted by Stafford Borough Council (SBC).

Following careful deliberation, the decision was taken that SASSOT will transition to an independent charitable body during 2020.

This decision means the Board can plan for a more sustainable future and to capitalise on the many exciting opportunities independence presents.

Malcolm Armstrong, Board Chair, said:

“Whilst we have enjoyed an outstanding relationship with our current hosts Stafford Borough Council, the opportunity to secure our long term future and grow and develop the organisation was one not to be missed.

I believe this will be a catalyst for developing new and existing relationships, attracting greater investment into sport and physical activity and enabling us to be agile in our response to national and local policy”

Jude Taylor, Director, said:

I’m delighted with the Board’s decision and believe this will provide us with a real opportunity to make a greater difference locally. We intend to involve partners throughout this journey and look forward to getting your collective input into the shape of our future.

Whilst it will be a busy time, you can expect the same excellent service from the team in supporting all our partners in delivering a more active Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.”

The SASSOT Board would like to thank Stafford Borough Council for their outstanding support over the last 20 years; the part they have played in SASSOT’s success cannot be overstated.
