East Staffordshire Borough Council set to support International Women’s Day

Tuesday 8th March 2016 is International Women’s Day – a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. East Staffordshire Borough Council are holding a number of sessions in support of this day including:

Ladies Only Swimming

Mars Just Play Ladies Football

• Mondays 19:00-20:00, Shobnall Leisure Complex

Run England Beginners Running Club

• Tuesdays 10:30-11:15, Burton Library
• Wednesdays 10:45-11:35, Bramshall Park

Netball

• Junior Netball team: Thursdays 17:30-18:30, Meadowside Leisure Centre
• Back to Netball team: Thursdays 18:30-19:30, Meadowside Leisure Centre

Sport Relief and Swimathon Events set for East Staffordshire

Local heroes from Burton upon Trent will be walking and running themselves proud during the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games, 20th March, to raise life-changing money for Sport Relief 2016.

Setting off on the start line of the athletics track at Shobnall Leisure Complex, the 1 mile competitors will complete 4 laps of the track and the 3 & 6 mile routes will follow a route around the grounds of Shobnall Leisure Complex. The Burton upon Trent mile is set to be an incredible event with participants being encouraged to dress up for the fun event.

If swimming is more your style then you can join the UK’s biggest swimming fundraising extravaganza at over 600 pools across the UK between 18th and 20th March. Whether you take on the whole distance or make it a team effort, you’ll be floating on a feel-good bubble all day long.
