World Autism Day

Tuesday 5th April 2016

Saturday 2nd April a part of the World Autism Day the National Autistic Society Stafford Branch organised a day at Littleworth Community Centre where the local community could come along to access what services are available to them locally. Individual stands from a range of services such as Midlands Psychology, Smart Talk, Sports across Staffordshire, SEND Family Partnership and Autism Outreach, provided information to parents and carers. The day created a great outreach which was a huge success for NAS Stafford Branch.

All ages were welcome, young children also came along where fun and games were available to them, taking part in fun activities including modelling with jumping clay, lego, face painting, pampering for the carers, plus cake stall, fundraising tombola, raffle and a book stall. Unfortunately due to the wet weather Cricket was cancelled, so the young children were unable to take part in outdoor activities. However this did not stop the enthusiasm flowing throughout the morning.

Finally to top the day off the Mayor also made an appearance to support NAS Stafford for the World Autism Day, it was great to see the Mayor being a part of the day where he further enhanced his awareness about Autism. Overall the money raised from the event £340 goes to support all the clubs great work who help the children with Autism.
