Still Time To Try Sailing & Push The Boat Out In South Staffs

Friday 6th May 2016

Five venues around Staffordshire are running Push The Boat Out events this month

There is still time to Push The Boat Out as South Staffs SC, near Penkridge and Greensforge SC on Calf Heath Reservoir, invite you and your family to try sailing for FREE this weekend as part of the national ‘have-a-go’ at sailing festival organised by sailing’s national governing body, the RYA.

Hundreds of people enjoyed their first taste of sailing across Staffordshire last weekend as RYA Push The Boat Out kicked off for the nine day festival on Saturday 14 May, with even more locals set to get afloat this weekend. South Staffs SC opens its doors on Saturday and Greensforge on Sunday.

All you will need to get afloat is some comfortable clothes and old trainers you don’t mind getting wet and, weather depending, a waterproof and/or sunscreen. Buoyancy aids, equipment and safety brief will be provided by the venues and refreshments will be available.

In total RYA Push The Boat Out will see no fewer than 34 events take place at 25 venues throughout the West Midlands, of almost 350 nationwide, over the course of the nine days.

Events can include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, bigger boats, sailing for the disabled and even powerboat rides, and although each event is different, all are geared to appeal to as many people as possible, regardless of age, ability or experience.
