Active People Survey 10 Results

The latest figures from the Sport England Active People Survey show 15.97 million people over the age of 16 are now playing sport weekly. That’s up 229,400 from 12 months ago. Jennie Price, Sport England chief executive, said: “These figures are really encouraging, especially the substantial increase in the number of women playing sport and being active every week. Our This Girl Can campaign set out to tackle the gender gap, so to reduce it significantly in just two years shows we are making a difference.”

Results in Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent show a 2.5% increase in the number of people 16+ taking part in at least 30 minutes sport per week. A positive direction of travel has also been recorded against the NI8 target of people aged 16+ taking part in 3×30 minutes sport and active recreation per week. All but two LAs have also had positive results for the 1×30 target and all but one LA has had a positive results for the NI8 target.
