Penkridge Leisure Centre Member Testimonial – Warren Trickett

My Personal Challenge…..27st 12lb – 15st 09lb

I have always been around the 21 stone in weight, this had prevented me from doing lots of different things in life and one of the biggest disappointments was a charity Skydive.

This had been my excuse for not stopping smoking I dreaded the day I decided to stop, that day came 14th February 2013,  I stopped smoking and within 6 Months went to 27st 12lb……..

TestimonialIt was at that point I decided to change, I received some help in the form of dietary advice from a local clinic which did help me lose nearly 3 stone, but this was not enough! I decided to speak to my doctor again who referred me to the local hospital to see about gastric surgery, and I believe this was the kick I needed as once having had several procedures explained to me, it scared me.  I continued to discuss options and dietary options with the hospital, but found the thought of surgery sufficient to push me to persist to lose weight without Surgery.  I decided to Join Penkridge Leisure Centre with the hope that increasing my physical activity would assist me with my weight loss.

Fortunately for me I live in Penkridge, which meant I had access to a great gym and leisure centre. I was pleasantly surprised to find a great deal of support from all the staff and personal trainers in particular Conner who introduced me to all the equipment and helped devise a suitable programme for my journey in achieving my goals.

My one new target was to reach 17st 6lb so I could participate in my new challenge ‘Zip Worlds Velocity’ which yet again had a weight restriction of 18st.

Unfortunately Conner moved on, but I must say the rest of the staff were very supportive in keeping me positive with my goals, they all continued to encourage me to stay focussed. I now have the added support of a new Personal Trainer ‘Philip Wolfe’ who has devised a new programme for me and continues to adapt the programme to meet my requirements.

I am pleased to say he has took  me past my target of 17st 6lb and I now find myself booked on Velocity for the 5th August with my eldest daughter, so I’ve decided to give a little back and try and raise some funds for our local Air Ambulance.  I honestly believe that if I had not had access to Penkridge Leisure Centre with the help and support I have received that I would not be taking part in this Venture as soon as this………

I am slowly but surely nearing my Ultimate goal of a Skydive; once I have done Velocity the ultimate challenge will continue and that is to achieve the weight required to do my skydive for charity. I can now see this has been an achievable target.

Thank you Penkridge Leisure Centre for all of your help and support.
