British Canoeing seeks volunteers to shape the future of recreational touring

Friday 2nd March 2018

Are you passionate about outdoor recreation and canoe touring? British Canoeing is looking for volunteers to form a new Recreational Touring working group for England.

The group will help shape, improve and update their work in this area, with the aim of increasing participation. People are encouraged to apply from both within and outside the paddling community, with the focus being on those who can bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the group.

Recreational Touring is a hugely popular part of paddlesport in England. We want ensure that our work in this area is shaped by those enthusiastic about outdoor recreation, whether they are existing British Canoeing members and paddlers or not.

– Jenny Spencer, Go Canoeing Development Manager

The organisation is particularly keen to engage with those who have not been involved in sharing their knowledge previously.

It is likely the group will meet approximately 4 times per year with a mix of face to face and conference call meetings. The detailed purpose, direction and role of the group will be to advise and help us shape recreational touring plans.

This group is not a replacement of the British Canoeing technical group, who provide specific advice and guidance to the head of coaching.

Closing date for applications is Monday 26th March 2018. Successful applicants will be notified by Tuesday 10th April 2018.
