Deaf-Friendly Swimming Training Course

The National Deaf Children’s Society is holding a ‘Making Swimming Deaf-Friendly’ training course in Castle Bromwich on Wednesday 24th August 2016.

Our informative courses are fun, interactive and aim to inspire you with simple and creative ways to make your swimming activities more fun and inclusive for deaf young people. This course is provided completely free of charge.

Wednesday 24th August 2016 9am – 4pm

Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel, Birmingham, B36 9DE

Making Swimming Deaf-Friendly 9am – 12pm

Lunch (not provided) 12pm – 1pm

BSL for Swimming 1pm – 4pm

 

The training will cover:

  • The impact of deafness on young people
  • Communication methods
  • How to adapt your activities
  • Tips for welcoming deaf children
  • Some basic BSL for general conversation
  • BSL specific to a swimming pool environment

Our training is offered to swimming teachers, coaches, co-ordinators and other aquatics professionals working with children and young people.
