School Holiday Programme

East Staffordshire Borough Council is rolling out its popular school holiday programme again this summer. Venues across the borough will be keeping children and their families busy from Saturday 25th July-Sunday 4th September by hosting sporting, craft, theatre and swimming activities each day.

DASH (discover activities in the school holidays) was launched in 2013 and continues to be a popular programme of events, taking place when children are off school. This summer is set to be bigger than ever with hundreds of activities taking place.

The programme will be delivered at Shobnall Leisure Complex, Meadowside and Uttoxeter Leisure Centres, the Brewhouse Arts Centre, Burton Market and at various other venues throughout East Staffordshire.

Activities presented include multi-sports activity days, Sport in the Hood initiatives, Dance and Gymnastics tasters and special swimming sessions. There will also be plenty of crafting, theatre and music taking place at the Brewhouse.

This holiday, the Police Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire, Matthew Ellis, has launched Space 2016, an initiative to increase young people’s skills, improve their health and wellbeing and make communities safer. Several activities taking place throughout the holidays have been funded by Space 2016 and more details can be found at www.staffordshirespace.uk.

Full details of all events and activities taking place during half term are available to download from www.eaststaffsbc.gov.uk/holiday-activities. DASH brochures are also available from any partaking venues.

Go Tri in East Staffordshire

Meadowside and Uttoxeter Leisure Centres will host a series of Aquathlons throughout the autumn as East Staffordshire Borough Council joins England Triathlons Go Tri programme for a second year.

It is hoped these events will encourage adults and young people to get involved in exercise, this may to keep fit or start the journey to become fit, but either way Go Tri is a fun way to access triathlon for the first time.

Aquathlon events will be held at Meadowside and Uttoxeter Leisure Centres during September, these are fantastic at combining the swimming and running elements of a triathlon to give you a bit of an insight into what the real thing would be like and then you can decide whether it is right for you.
