A Celebration of the Horse

The Free Spirit Memorial Appeal has been launched to provide a lasting memorial statue at the National Memorial Arboretum to acknowledge the thousands of horses that have served mankind in times of conflict and work. The memorial will be a life sized bronze statue by award winning sculptress Georgie Welch.

“The importance of the role of the horse during WW1 and previous wars cannot be underestimated. The Free Spirit Horse Memorial is much needed in recognition of the bravery, loyalty, sacrifice and huge importance that these amazing animals gave to the Country” Simon Clarke DL, Hon.D.Univ

Guests at the launch of the appeal for £250,000 were entertained by the Free Spirit Song that captures the thoughts of young riders. The lyrics were composed by Birmingham musician Dominic Malin and the song performed by young volunteers of the Free Spirit choir.
