Stafford Borough Council Small Capital Grant Scheme

This Small Grant is administered by VAST on behalf of Stafford Borough Council and provides grants of (£200 – £1000) for small community organisations, with a specific need for a capital purchase. Panel meetings are held quarterly to determine whether applicants should receive funding. The panel can decide to offer all or part of the requested grant, or to decline the application. Get Britain Cycling reports £20m stopgap funding for active travel projects

The DfT says it will ‘look favourably’ on bids that support government commitments to double cycling and reduce the number of cyclists killed or seriously injured. Funding of £20m for active travel projects is to be made available in 2016/17, the Department for Transport (DfT) has announced.

The government says it will “look favourably” on bids that support its manifesto commitments to double cycling and reduce the numbers of cyclists killed or seriously injured. It is also seeking schemes that support access to work, skills, education or training, for example, by improving cycle-rail links. Read more…


Sported teams up with Sainsbury’s Active Kids to bring new equipment and experiences to disadvantaged young people

Sported is delighted to announce that it is the first UK-wide community sports organisation to partner with Sainsbury’s Active Kids programme. Sported’s premium members of over 3,000 community groups in the UK will now be able to collect Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers and exchange them for brand new sports equipment and experiences.

Since the launch of Active Kids in 2005, Sainsbury’s has donated £160million worth of Active Kids equipment and experiences to schools and clubs across the UK. This year customers can collect Active Kids vouchers in Sainsbury’s stores until 3rd May 2016. Customers will receive one voucher for every £10 spent at any Sainsbury’s supermarket or £5 spent in Sainsbury’s convenience stores. They will also receive vouchers for groceries online and at petrol stations.

Awards for All and Reaching Communities awards announcement: Helping to prevent self-harm amongst young people

A national project run by Youthscape to support young people at risk of self-harming is just one of 624 projects sharing in close to £14.8 million the Big Lottery Fund today.

Today’s awards have been made through the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All and Reaching Communities programmes. Awards for All provides grants between £300 and £10,000 to voluntary and community organisations and Reaching Communities awards larger grants of £10,000 and above.
