Tip of the Month!

The processes beyond a successful application!

Last month, we looked at the importance of considering the monitoring and evaluation processes early on and, whether this is a pre-set process by the funder or your own framework, it is key to have this considered in the planning stages of any application.

This month, we want to share our experiences on a broader scale in terms of what you will be required to complete upon attracting funding for your programmes. Many funders will have different requirements; whilst some may have a more fluid and flexible approach, some may have more robust procedures with specified deadlines.

In order to prepare for additional workload, it would be worth double checking the funder’s guidelines and even contacting them to see what would be required to complete. Also consider the use of the SMART targets system (see below) to make sure you are fully prepared for any extra responsibilities.

Specific – Is what is required to be completed clear and concise?

Measurable – How are you going to measure against outcomes?

Achievable – Are you able to reach the targets set?

Realistic – Do your processes allow you to reach the set objectives?

Time – How long have you got or do you need to reach the targets?

Remember – Always check and ask questions around processes early on!
