Football and cricket come together to launch a new competition – Roar! for Diversity

Chance to Shine have an exciting new resource available on their Schools’ Portal: Roar! for Diversity.

A new KS2 PSHE resource, developed in partnership by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Premier League, to teach children why a diverse team is a strong team.

Through the partnership with Premier League Primary Stars and the ECB, Chance to Shine are aiming to demonstrate the positive power of sport and give young people a voice on the topics that matter to them.

To enter:

To enter the Roar for diversity competition, pupils need to work together to create an advert to celebrate diversity in teams and show others just how important it is.

Pupils’ adverts can be as creative as they like – they may wish to do a poster, a poem, an artwork, a storyboard for a short film or any other idea they choose!

The competition is open from until Friday 14th February 2020.

The winning team will receive exciting prizes, such as match tickets, a trophy visit to their school and the opportunity to work with designers to bring their winning advert to life.

Volunteer for Staffordshire University’s research study

Are you female, over the age of 50 and post-menopausal? Are you relatively active and attend sessions similar to chair-based exercise, walking football, super senior clubs, or indoor bowling?

You will be required to take part in an exercise intervention lasting 8 months, in which you will be required to exercise for just 5 minutes on three occasions per week. All the exercises can be done in your own home or at a place most convenient for you, although once a month, we will invite you to come into the University to check on your progress. You will also be required to attend the sport and exercise physiology laboratory at Staffordshire University, Stoke Campus, on three separate occasions, once before the intervention starts, once at the end of the 8 months, then a third time, three months after the intervention has finished. On these occasions, we will assess your bone health using a foot bone scanner, your balance, your leg power and we will ask you questions about your current health and medical history.

If you meet these criteria and are also not using any HRT or have any medical or health condition preventing you from taking part, please get in touch with:

British Gymnastics – Get ready for GymFusion 2020

GymFusion will return to stages across the country in 2020 and this time we want to see your club’s ‘Inspirations’!

Launched in 2011, GymFusion (British Gymnastics National Festivals Programme) is an opportunity for teams of gymnasts to perform displays on stage in front of large audiences.

Since its inception, GymFusion has showcased the talents of more than 30,000 performers of all abilities.

The theme for 2020 is ‘Inspirations’ and we are encouraging teams to be creative and take on the theme during the planning of their performance.

It is not compulsory that your team’s performance follows the theme in order to enter although it may help as a guide.

The first event will take place in Manchester at The Lowry Theatre on Sunday 23rd February.

Entries can now be submitted via the GymFusion Manchester page.
