STAmark Gold Awarded to South Staffordshire Swim Academy

Representatives from the STA (Swimming Teachers Association) visited all four of south Staffordshire Council’s Leisure Centres on 16 & 17 May 2017 to view swimming lessons and review an evidence portfolio put together by the Swim Co-ordinator, and following this assessment the Academy has achieved and been awarded STAmark Gold status across all four sites!

The STAmark Gold quality accreditation programme is the definitive standard for swim schools and swim academies and this will instil confidence for our customers that South Staffordshire Swim Academy is operating to the highest standards across our four Centres.  This is valid for two years and will be reassessed in 2019!

South Staffordshire Swim Academy – Online Home Portal

Parents of members of the South Staffordshire Swim Academy can now track their child’s swimming progress using a new online home portal which means parents can now regularly monitor how their child is doing and what skills  they need to do to achieve their next award.  The portal was launched at Codsall and Wombourne sites and has proved a real success. We are currently in the process of rolling it out to Cheslyn Hay and Penkridge Leisure Centres.

Walking Football

Penkridge Leisure Centre run a Walking Football session on their 3G synthetic pitch every Monday evening at 6pm!  The session is great fun, very friendly and welcomes all ages and abilities!  They recently had their first ever walking football match which took place on 15 May, and although they lost 6-0 to Burntwood, it was a great evening and enjoyed by all!  We are looking to arrange another game very soon!
