Where: Stafford ST16 1GB

When: Sunday 6 March 2016

On Sunday 6th March 2016 Stafford Road Club is hosting its annual Reliability Ride to help raise funds for Katherine House Hospice.

The event is open to all and riders have a choice of four routes suitable for all abilities.  There is a family route using traffic free cycle paths (12 miles) and 37, 50 and 63 mile routes on road that will take riders through some of the most beautiful countryside in our region.  The family route will use the Stafford to Gnosall renovated railway path and the on road routes take riders out over Cannock Chase and around Abbots Bromley.  There riders have the choice of swinging back to Stafford (37 miles), heading north toward Uttoxeter before turning for Stafford (50 miles) or continuing up into the Staffordshire Moorlands (62 miles) for some seriously steep and challenging climbs.SRC Challenge Ride 6 March 2016

All the rides begin and finish at Stafford Rugby Club (ST16 1GB) where there will be hot food and a drink waiting for the riders when they return.  Entry fee is £5/rider with all profits going to Katherine House Hospice.

This event is open to all and not just Stafford Road Club members so please come along and join in the fun.  All you need is a bike in good working order, helmet, a strong heart, legs and lungs and a little bit of determination.  Anyone under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult or has a signed parental consent form (available via www.staffordrc.org)

Alastair Semple, Stafford RC Chairman states,

“Our Reliability rides have grown in popularity over the years and we regularly get 160 plus riders each year now.  It’s a great opportunity for riders to set themselves a challenge of completing one of the routes; and with so many riders out there it is also a great way to meet lots of like minded individuals who like nothing more than riding their bikes.  Stafford RC now has a growing ‘Go Ride’ youth section, which puts on events and coaching each week for youngsters and this year we have included a new family route to ensure our younger riders get the opportunity to take part.  We have again included a new shorter (30mile) road route this year too to ensure there is something for everyone.  They are all still quite challenging, but I am sure are well within the abilities of anyone who is a reasonably confident rider.  Although saying that the 62 mile route incorporate a new tougher climb this year and designed for the mountain goats, so I myself will give that option a miss I think”
