The FA Disability Talent Identification Programme

Tuesday 5th January 2016

The FA Disability Talent Identification Programme (TIP) is the new entry point to the England Disability Talent Pathway- this programme will be utilised to identify and signpost players to specific playing environments. The aim of this programme is to identify young prospects and provide them the opportunity to move up the England Disability Talent Pathway Pyramid.

FA Triangle

There are 30 England Talent Days taking place up and down the country which are being used to look at players aged 12-16 and conclude whether they are ready to take the next steps. The Staffordshire England Talent Day is to be held at Stoke City’s Training Dome in March 2016 with successful players advancing into a six week assessment/signposting period (details will be provided).

It is important to note that players MUST be recruited in order to attend the England Talent Day as players cannot turn up on the day and expect to play. With a player registration process in place and to be completed before the England Talent Day it is paramount our Recruitment Network are made aware of any talented players in the county that could have the potential to play at a higher level. This then allows us the opportunity to invite them down to showcase their potential. Please note we are also looking for players currently playing within mainstream football leagues, who would be eligible to play within national disability teams:

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Partially Sighted
  • Deaf Male
  • Deaf Female
  • Learning Disability
  • Amputee
  • Blind

The FA Disability Talent Identification Programme will:

  • Identify and signpost talented players from England Talent Days to the Talent Identification Programme
  • Engage and challenge players in technical and games based activities. This will allow the coach to identify and signpost players to the right environment
  • Focus on game understanding and the development of technique in young players.
  • Select individuals to move onto a bespoke training programme away from the TIP’s environment monitored by the Talent Selection Officer
